The incentive to study business networks in Russia has recently sharply increased. This is dictated by the interests of the public policy, the transfer of control to the regional level, the creation of horizontal links between enterprises in regional business environments. Networks allow to operationalize the concepts of social and human capital, to jointly address the social and economic relations and their influence on the development of organizations. Socio-economic interactions in Russia are traditionally based on personal confidence, and the share of unpredictable interactions is extremely high in contrast to countries with developed market economies. The network approach can be used to study both internal and external interactions in an organization.
This book is a supplement to the basic textbook on social networks “Network Measurements in Sociology”. It describes and analyzes how to build business networks at personal, corporate, and even economic sector level. It used the date from the results of quantitative and qualitative polls conducted with the participation of the author, as well textual data from public sources.
