The article depicts the objectives of the forest certification as a key tool of ensuring sustainable forest management at the territory of the Russian Federation. The activity of international and national voluntary forest certification systems is explored. The development of the forest certification is analysed, the parties interested in development of the forest certification are systematized, the problems and limitations in this field are described.
By the examples of the export of specific groups of product from the Members of the Eurasian Economic Union to Mongolia and the introduction of steel ompulsory certification in India, it is shown in the article that in some cases the introduction of technical measures towards specific product doesn"t reduce export of this product or slightly effects the volume of exports in the long run.
