Нидерландские художники и их патроны в Святой земле и Италии. XV — начало XVI века
The article is devoted to the Netherlandish painters and their patrons’ journeys to Canaan and Italy. Trips to the Holy Land became the source of new compositional and plot solutions in the Flemish art of the 15th-16th centuries. As a result of such trips a new iconography appeared, uncharacteristic to the early Netherlandish painting. Travels routes to the Holy Land usually ran through Italian lands, however the artist's journey to Italy could also be associated with the received orders from Italian patrons. That is worthy to consider the mutual influence of the Netherlandish and Italian art in the first half of 15th century, while at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries the assimilation of the Italian artistic techniques by their colleagues from the Netherlands increased. The article aims to trace the examples of such trips, describe their connection with the appearance of a number of the Netherlandish pieces of art, and determine their influence on the artistic process.
