The article presents the analysis of methodological issues related to the relationship between the concepts of «life», «behavior», «activity». The limitations of the activity approach are shown and the need for a behaviour-activity dyad is justified by the introduction of the concept of «life» as the starting point when considering human activity. The definition of all three concepts is given, it is substantiated that a person primarily acts as a subject of life, and then as a subject of behavior and activity. By the example of personality traits examination, it is shown that the traits are most completely presented at study of a person as the subject of life in comparison with his qualities as the subject of behavior and activity.
