Насилие и травма в детской литературе 1941-1945 годов

Русская литература. 2019. № 2. С. 194-203.

The paper discusses the ways in which violence towards children is depicted in literary works addressed to children published in Russia since June 1941 until May 1945. The central question of the paper is what part of the range of experiences of the abused children was admitted to serve as a topic in the texts addressed to children. It was found that, in contrast to adult literary fiction of the period that suggested some ways of discussing trauma, children's literature was almost completely mute on the traumatic implications of violence experienced by children during the war. This silence is to be explained by the educational pragmatics of children's literature reinforced by the perceived need of propaganda aimed at improving chidlren's morale.
