New Evidence of K’inich Muhk, A Tonina Lord from the End of the Sixth Century

PARI Journal. 2022. Vol. 23. No. 1. P. 1–24.
Krempel G., Sanchez Gamboa A., Beliaev Dmitri

The dynastic history of Tonina during the sixth century remains little known. Nonetheless, a handful of early monuments allow us to outline the events of this period, including the succession of rulers, the dedication of monuments, armed conflicts with other cities, and a series of significant rituals such as the visiting of ancestral tombs. In the present study we attempt to further elucidate this research gap by presenting a series of monuments related to K’inich Muhk, a previously overlooked king of Tonina.
