The article is devoted to little-known pages of our recent sports history. It tells how the Soviet delegation was formed to represent our country at negotiations with the leadership of the IOC and international sports federations, which took place in London during the 1948 Olympic Games. The successful steps of the delegation are noted, which made it possible to positively resolve the issue of joining our country to a number of international sports federations, and to achieve the consent in principle of the IOC leadership to include the USSR among the members of the Olympic movement. The main arguments that guided Moscow when making the decision to submit an application to participate in the Olympic Games are given.
