HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

«Мравалжамиер». Как Сталин и батумские рабочие праздновали Новый год (версии Берии, Булгакова и рабочих)

С. 6–25.
Gluschenko I.

This article is dedicated to the fi rst version of Mikhail Bulgakov’s play Batum which was originally named Pastor in the manuscripts of 1938–1939. Special attention is paid to the New Year’s party on the eve of 1902, during which the Batum workers are pretending to celebrate but in fact are gathered to hear Stalin announce the establishment of a local committee of Russian Social Democratic Workers Party. Bulgakov based this episode on the extracts from the memoirs of Georgian workers published in 1937 in a book Batum demonstration of 1902 edited by Lavrenty Beria. Comparative analysis of Bulgakov’s texts and these extracts, sometimes included in the play almost unchanged, shows that the author wrote the whole scene by putting these pieces together. This episode was rewritten and cut much shorter in the fi nal version of the play.

Baklanov A., Международная жизнь 2023 № 9 С. 82–93
The article is devoted to little-known pages of our recent sports history. It tells how the Soviet delegation was formed to represent our country at negotiations with the leadership of the IOC and international sports federations, which took place in London during the 1948 Olympic Games. The successful steps of the delegation are noted, which ...

Interest of Mikhail Bulgakov to foxtrot «Hallelujah» is obvious. Researchers explain this writer’s interest in different ways. For example, Victor Losev calls this foxtrot «a blasphemous parody of Christian worship.» A natural question arises – what is the blasphemous nature of this foxtrot? May be the original English text? But there is no evidence that ...

Две пьесы о Сталине: "Батум" М.Булгакова и "Юность вождя" Г. Нахуцришвили

The article compares two plays: "Batum" (1939) by M.A.Bulgakov and "The Youth of the Leader" (1949) by G.D.Nakhutsrishvili. Both are dedicated to Stalin'young years, and both are based on the version of events given by L.Beria. Despite the enormous difference in the literary quality of the text and different historical context in which the plays ...
