Наследие и управление наследием в странах АСЕАН: национальные, трансграничные и региональные подходы

The chapter examines elements and functions of heritage in the ASEAN countries as well as the related actions of various actors at the national, cross-national and regional levels. The study revealed that the Southeast Asian countries are pursuing active policies for identifying, preserving and diverse use of their cultural and natural heritage; strive for the peaceful resolution of disputes around heritage and promote joint projects in the field, developing the concept of a common ASEAN heritage. For each of the Southeast Asian countries and for the ASEAN community as a whole, heritage is an important factor of collective identity and an effective tool for increasing community cohesion. Proper heritage management plays a significant role in increasing tourist attractiveness and in the economic development of both individual countries and the entire region, contributes to the biodiversity maintenance and environmental well-being.
