The paper presents the interpretation of Greek inscription on the block from the investigations
of Bosporan settlement Artezian in 2000. The author argues the reading: Σαυ[ρομ]ά[τ]ης / ΑΜΤ
Ῥοιμητάλκ[ο]υ / υἱὸς τὴ[ν πύ]λην / [ἐνεώ]σεντο — “Sauromates, son of Roimetalkes, restored this gate in
341”, and proposes to consider this Sauromates a new member of Sarmatian dynasty at Cimmerian Bosporus
in the first half of the first century A.D.
