In Russia, Bruno Latour is known as the founder of the actor-network theory (ANT) and the ethnographer of science, but not as the author of studies on environmental and political issues. "The Politics of Nature", translated last year, is capable of changing the current situation. Latour cares about the environment, as evidenced by a relatively recent interview with Steve Paulson, but the "Politics of Nature" should not be thought of as a purely environmental manifesto. The French researcher does not practical advice on how to save the planet for posterity. He is engaged in solving another, rather abstract task: debunking and subsequent reassembly of the dichotomies of modernity, which partly determined the ensuing ecological (we dare to assume, epistemological) crisis.
