"Мы-то свою задачу выполнили". Контуры рефлексии и памяти об Афганской войне в среде ее ветеранов.
The Afghan war fell on the departure of the Soviet era. In the interval between the Great Patriotic War and current events, this is the largest armed conflict with the participation of our army, and both personnel military personnel and conscripts. Over the incomplete 10 years, at least 350 thousand Soviet military personnel have passed through Afghanistan, of which about 15 thousand were killed. However, not a single full monographic study has been released so far, and it, alas, occupies a peripheral place in the space of collective memory. The state and society actually failed to work with this topic, which only gave rise to a sense of uselessness and non-recognition among Afghan veterans. Separate local projects, alas, cannot replenish this drawback. This is partly due to the lack of access to archival materials, partly with objective circumstances that prevent the history of this war on the patterns of the Great Patriotic War.
Today, only the relevance of the appeal to how the work with the “social heritage” and the memory of the Afghan war were growing: the experience of participating in the combat conflicts of recruits (actually civilians), the failures of the reactration of veterans, the public understanding of the conflict, which many were considered for the USSR (Russia ) fair - all these are only the most obvious issues that require their researchers.
