ЕВРОПЕЙСКИЙ СОЮЗ ПОСЛЕ БРЕКСИТА: ИТОГИ И ПЕРСПЕКТИВЫ ИНТЕГРАЦИОННОГО ПРОЕКТА
. Th e decision of Great Britain to leave European Union aft er the 2016 Referendum marked the beginning of the new period in the development of the European integration project. Started 70 years before, this project until recently seemed to be very successful as a form of the supra-national legal, economic and political regulation demonstrating a great vitality and potential for fl exible reaction on new challengers. Brexit demonstrated another side of the coin: it confronted the European identity with nationalism; cooperation and solidarity with self-isolation in a critical moment of migration crisis; transnational European constitutionalism with the restoration of the state sovereignty principle, and, what is more important, put under question the principle idea of the ever-closer Union, withdrawing country from European political institutions. Should we consider this decision as result of UK’s internal circumstances unfavorable for Europe, or vice versa, unequivocal expression of uneven character of the European integration project itself? Which kind of reaction produced this event in diff erent parts of Europe, and how the European authorities refl ected the fare-reaching negative eff ect of Brexit? What now with long-term consequences of Brexit for the Continental and British political identity? Th e author presents his answers on these questions.
