In this introductory article, the authors explain what the idea of the report to the Club of Rome was, what goals they set, outline a brief history of the main reports to the Club of Rome over 50 years and show how ideas about global problems have changed. This article analyzes the evolution of the views of the experts of the Club of Rome, which was influenced by the profound transformations taking place in the world, which determines the need for careful reflection and processing of forecasts for further development. The idea of the report of Russian scientists is based precisely on the urgent need to rethink the situation and the way to the future. The article also reveals the methodology of the report, its structure and main ideas.
