The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Классификация бифакторных моделей

Гл. 66. С. 350–358.
Federiakin D.

Bifactor models reflect the current popularity of composite tests, which allow for a report of the general and specific test scores. This paper proposes a classification of bifactor models from the item response theory paradigm. The classification is based on four criteria: (1) the number of parameters per item, (2) link function, (3) structure of thresholds in polytomous items, (4) obliqueness of persons' dimensions.

The assessment of intellectual development in children and adolescents is an essential component of psychodiagnostics, facilitating an understanding of the nature of learning difficulties. Intelligence tests have a history that spans more than a century, and even contemporary versions of widely used intelligence tests (such as the Wechsler or Stanford-Binet tests) are limited by the ...

One of the significant lack of questionnaires is a scores distortion for the measured constructs, associated with the social desirability effects. An even greater threat to the validity of decisions is social desirability in high-stakes evaluation, such as selection for a position. Moreover the issue of the relationship between different components of social desirability and ...

Саляхутдинова Д. Р., Federiakin D., Отечественная и зарубежная педагогика 2022 Т. 1 № 3(84) С. 98–111
Educational progress monitoring programs can provide valuable data to all users of test results, from test-takers to educational authorities. This is due to the enormous amount of psychometric work needed to establish comparability of scales from different measurement occasions. Comparability means that a single test score is assigned precisely to the same ability level. Then, ...

Новые источники информации в компьютерном тестировании
Federiakin D., Uglanova I., Skryabin M., Вестник Томского государственного университета 2021 № 465 С. 179–187
Traditionally, psychometrics is concerned with theory-based information about human behavior – indicators of the targeted construct, like item responses, performance assessment products, etc. However, over the past forty years, advances in psychometric modeling and the development of information technologies allowed for the analysis of the so-called collateral information. This information is not theory-based and easy ...

Tokdemir E., Sedashov E., Ogutcu-Fu S. H. et al., Journal of Conflict Resolution 2021 Vol. 65 No. 4 P. 729–758
How does the presence of multiple combatants affect rebel groups’ ideological and demand positioning? Although violent forms of inter-group conflict have been widely studied in the civil war literature, rebel groups’ strategic use of ideology and demands has received scarce scholarly attention. We argue that the pressure of competition forces rebel groups to differentiate themselves ...

The paper describes the ways to develop a computerized adaptive test using item response times as collateral information. The paper shows that introducing item response times in the measurement model has the same effect on the reliability of computerized adaptive tests as on the reliability of linear tests. Nonetheless, the presence of missing responses may ...
