The article is a study of information and evaluations of the Moscow State’s policy towards Tatar states in 16th–17th cc. in works of emigrants: Andrei Kurbskii, Timofei Ankudinov and Grigorii Kotoshikhin. The information is analyzed within the historical context, but at the same time as a source of authors’ views. There is also an attempt to clarify, was their interpretations of the Russian-Tatar relations influenced by the fact of their statement in a foreign land, in Europe.
