Кара моногатари. Средневековые японские рассказы о Китае.
The book presents the translation of Japanese literary text Kara monogatari into Russian. It is prepared by two researchers — by a Japanologist Maria V. Toropygina and a Sinologist Tatiana I. Vinogradova. Kara monogatari is a collection of 27 stories of different volume based on Chinese historical anecdotes but written in literary Japanese with one or several waka poems in each episode. Th e text was written in the 12th century by Fujiwara no Shigenori (1135–1187) (both the date and the name of the author remain in doubt). The stories included in the collection are to be found in different Chinese texts such as Shi ji, Zuo zhuan, Shishuo xinyu and a number of others. While all stories are based on Chinese sources, the Japanese text is not a mere translation of one or a number of Chinese narratives, rather it is based on the plot of the Chinese source (often several sources are used) but has its own features and tasks.
