Biologists Discover Unique Properties of MiR-93-5p MicroRNA in Prostate Cancer
Researchers at the International Laboratory of Microphysiological Systems of the HSE Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology investigated how different isoforms of the same microRNA influence gene function in prostate adenocarcinoma. The study found that in some cases, microRNAs can reinforce each other’s effects by targeting and suppressing the same genes. This finding offers a fresh perspective on the molecular mechanisms underlying tumour development and on the search for disease biomarkers. The results have been published in PeerJ.

2021. Т. 85. № 5. С. 675–686.
Г., Sheludkov A.

The article analyzes the particularities of organic agriculture development in Russia and its geographical patterns. Unlike European countries, large investors were the first to develop organic agriculture in Russia; the main motives of these pioneers were related to issues of healthy food and, to a lesser extent, environmental or social issues. From the approach of theory of diffusion of innovations, the development of organic agriculture in Russia is in its early stages. Nevertheless, the number of farms and lands under organic agriculture is growing steadily, service industries and distribution channels are being formed, and an institutional environment in the form of associations and national legislation has been created. In the spatial distribution of organic enterprises, there is a dependence on natural conditions and the agrarian history of the territory. Processing enterprises tend to cluster in the Moscow region as the largest sales market. The possibilities of expanding organic agriculture in mountainous rural areas are considered. In the last sections authors discuss potential socio-ecological effects of organic agriculture for maintaining the resilience of rural areas in Russia.

Does the pedicle exist in craniiform brachiopods?
Plandin F., Temereva E., Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society 2025 Vol. 205 No. 2 Article zlaf139
Although Brachiopoda represent a relatively small phylum, they exhibit significant morphological diversity. One of the central issues in understanding the evolution of the ancestral brachiopod body plan pertains to the homologies among body compartments across the different brachiopod subphyla: Craniiformea, Linguliformea, and Rhynchonelliformea. In this context, the pedicle stands out as one of the most ...

Disentangling hydroclimatic controls on drought-induced vegetation productivity loss at the basin scale across China
Yin X., Wu Y., Kivalov S. et al., Journal of Hydrology 2026 Vol. 677 No. A Article 135843
As a frequent extreme event under global climate change, drought significantly threatens the net primary productivity (NPP) of terrestrial ecosystems. Although numerous studies have reported drought-induced declines in NPP, the hydroclimatic mechanisms behind remain insufficiently understood. The strong interdependence among temperature, precipitation, and water availability has made it challenging to quantify their independent effects on ...

Zamyatina N., Rusakov D., Evgeny V.,
Spatial Governance Under Polycrisis: Reconfiguring Agglomeration Policy
Borushkina S., Gorodnichev A., / Elsevier. Серия -- "WPS". 2026.
Agglomeration policy has long been a widely accepted approach in spatial development, premised on the assumption that large, integrated city-regions drive national economic growth through higher productivity, innovation, and global integration. This paper examines how this paradigm is reworked under conditions of polycrisis, understood as a durable state of overlapping and mutually reinforcing economic, geopolitical, and institutional crises. Focusing ...
