The collective monograph by Russian experts on Korea devoted to the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK and the ROK celebrated in 2018, assesses the prerequisites for the peninsula's split, summarizes the political, economic, cultural developments of the two Korean states. Some problems of formation and development of statehood, forms and methods of management and regulation of social life in North Korea and South Korea are explored. The causes of different results of the processes of economic modernization of the two Korean States, which led to significantly different living standards of the population, the problems of their trade and foreign economic relations are analyzed. The relations between the DPRK and the ROK, both among themselves and with neighboring countries are examined. Much attention is paid to the denuclearization of the peninsula as an important international problem, the solution of which has been sought for many years by the world's leading powers and the UN. The results of the inter-Korean summit on April 27, 2018 are considered and the forecast of possible consequences of the first summit in the history between the DPRK and the United States is given. The monograph includes the articles prepared on the basis of academic papers presented at the XXII conference of Russia and CIS countries experts on Korea, held in the Institute of Far Eastern Studies in Moscow on March 29-30, 2018.
