О причинах некоторых языковых изменений (на примере диалекта села Старошведское)
Causes of some types of language change (with the dialect of the village of Gammalsvenskby as an example)
This article deals with several types of language change that I observed in the dialect of Gammalsvenskby, the only surviving Scandinavian dialect in the territory of the former USSR, which is now highly endangered. I have chosen for this article those changes that are either not quite trivial and frequent, or, conversely, may be instructive with regard to general mechanisms of language change such as the transition from synthetic to analytic language structure. Specifically, the article describes a rare phonetic change in the noun stäka ‘glass’ < Russ. stakan. The vowel ä instead of a phonetically regular o is caused in this case by the need to avoid similarity to the already existing noun stoka ‘stick’. This can be described as a lexical dissimilation, i. e. a semantically conditioned phonetic divergence. The article also discusses reasons for gender change in a number of nouns in the dialect. Finally, it describes grammatical and lexical features of semi-speakers of the dialect and their possible role in the structural
change of the language.
