The article examines the role of English as a means of constructing identities in contemporary Russian musical dis- course. Various forms of interaction between Global English and Russian are analyzed, such as English borrowings, code-switching from Russian to English and the so called «Russian English». Research material includes song lyrics, musical journals and professional Internet-forums. Ethnographic interviews were conducted to support the results of discourse analyses.
