The article examines the role of English as a means of constructing identities in contemporary Russian musical dis- course. Various forms of interaction between Global English and Russian are analyzed, such as English borrowings, code-switching from Russian to English and the so called «Russian English». Research material includes song lyrics, musical journals and professional Internet-forums. Ethnographic interviews were conducted to support the results of discourse analyses.
In this article, we study the phenomenon of grammaticalization in the syntactic segment of infinitival structures in Modern German. Different points of view regarding the parameters of grammaticalization are examined and compared. Based on the criteria considered, infinitive structures that tend to be grammaticalized are selected and the semantic, morphological and syntactic changes in these structures are analyzed. Research has shown that the infinitives under analysis undergo loss or change of semantic meaning and they are characterized by a limited number of forms and possible compatible structures. On the basis of the established characteristics, the degree of grammaticalization of structures is described and their groups are formed. A list of auxiliary verbs and grammaticalized structures is presented.
The American South discourse in Stark Young's «So Red the Rose» (1934) is analyzed in the article in the context of Southern literary tradition. The goal of the scholarly research is to define S. Young's status in the American literature, explore the ties of his creative work with «plantation tradition» and Southern novels of 1930s. « As a result of the comparative analysis features typical for «So Red the Rose» as well as for other Civil war novels: M. Mitchell's «Gone with the Wind», C. Gordon's «None Shall Look back», A. Tate's A. «The Fathers» etc., - have been revealed. The novel's poetics, system of characters, and the author's approach to interpreting Civil War events (1861 - 1865) are under consideration. S. Young is defined as the «second rank» writer in the US literature, but an exemplary representative of the Southern American tradition
The history of Italian feminism in the XX century and the influence on Italian feminine literature of XX century are analyzed. Premises and particular features of Italian feminism are given. The particular features include the emphasis on differences of genders, lower attention to politics, particular attitude to the themes of family and maternity.
The article presents an overview of some methodological problems that are relevant to modern cognitive linguistics. The author suggests possible directions of linguo-cognitive analysis of poetic text, which seem promising: analysis of the processes of conceptualization and categorization, as well as of categories of time and space in particular.

The paper analyzes potential words and forms in original poetry by Nika Skandiaki as compared to those in her poetic translations. Focusing on the difference between the occasional and the potential in poetic language, and suggesting a quantitative criterion if such differentiation, the author draws a conclusion that in the language of original Russian poetry the occasional is more significant than the potential, and in the language of poetic translations - vice versa, for the strategies of a poet and of a translator are different.
