Современные подходы к обучению иностранному языку: общее и частное

The article focuses on the modern approaches to language teaching originating in the Communicative Approach (the Lexical Approach, Task—Based Learning, Language Awareness, Content—Based Instruction, Dogme, Demand High). The principles which these approaches are based on are outlined, the structure of a lesson is described. The common features peculiar to the approaches are revealed, the findings are compared to the trends in the Russian methodology of language teaching. On the basis of the analysis, some conclusions about the trends in the Anglo-American methodology of language teaching are drawn.
