Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration
A team of Russian researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems. The article has been published in Scientific Data.

‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

An Integrated Approach to Ensure Electromagnetic Compatibility in the Design of Electronic Devices

P. 239–241.
Nikolay N. Grachev, Sergey N. Safonov

The article discusses an integrated approach to the design of EM, taking into account the provision of electromagnetic compatibility parameters.  The article considers the original approach with the help of which the study of  general integrated noise immunity is carried out because of the criteria providing noise immunity and noise immunity. The stated principles of the design approach  allow us to solve the problem of applying optimal circuitry and design solutions  in the design of noise-resistant and noise-resistant EM.

Структура и нарушения саморегуляции деятельности: точка роста культурно-исторической деятельностной психологии
Leontiev D., Культурно-историческая психология 2024 Т. 20 № 3 С. 27–35
The problem setting of the paper stems from the idea of shifts in research contexts and explanatory emphases in the Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) through the history of its development, specifically, from putting the concepts of mediation and self-regulation (autoregulation) to the foreground in the 1980s. The immediate object of the analysis are the elements of activity autoregulation ...

Analyzing the Robustness of Vision & Language Models
Shirnin A., Andreev N., Potapova S. et al., IEEE/ACM Transactions on Speech and Language Processing 2024 Vol. 32 P. 2751–2763
We present an approach to evaluate the robustness of pre-trained vision and language (V&L) models to noise in input data. Given a source image/text, we perturb it using standard computer vision (CV) / natural language processing (NLP) techniques and feed it to a V&L model. To track performance changes, we explore the problem of visual ...

The article «La Défenestration» by Belgian philosopher Marc Richir has been translated into Russian for the first time for this issue of the “Horizon. Studies in Phenomenology.” In his early work “The Defenestration” Richir raises the question of relation between the subject and conceivable world. Here, a philosopher is pictured contemplating the world through the ...

Embedded ArUco: a novel approach for high precision UAV landing
Khazetdinov A., Zakiev A., Tsoy T. et al., , in: 2022 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON).: IEEE, 2022. Ch. 9438855.
This paper presents a novel approach for precise UAV landing using visual sensory data. A new type of fiducial marker called embedded ArUco (e-ArUco) was developed specially for a task of a robust marker detection for a wide range of distances. E-ArUco markers are based on original ArUco markers approach and require only ArUco detection ...

Modification of the Fingerprinting Code Decoding Procedure in the Case of Soft Decision
Afanasyeva, A.V., , in: 2018 WAVE ELECTRONICS AND ITS APPLICATION IN INFORMATION AND TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS (WECONF).: IEEE, 2018. P. 1–4.
This article proposes a mutual adaptation of the procedure for extracting digital watermark from video sequences and fingerprinting code decoding. Proposed solution includes two interrelated techniques. The first one is a usage of “soft” decision making instead of “hard” decision during watermark extraction. This means that the additional information on extracted bit reliability will be ...

Модель расчета объема безошибочно передаваемого по телекоммуникационным системам сообщения
Baranov P., Проблемы информационной безопасности. Компьютерные системы 2015 № 1 С. 46–51
Enhanced electronic signature (hereinafter ES) application while transmitting a message over telecommunication channels reveals even most minor (down to single-bit) message change. Insignificant distortions cause complete change of hash-function's result and therefore, lead to non-confirmation of ES. Meaning of the information held in file being transmitted may be uninfluenced by these distortions but totally ruin its ...
