The Increasing Role of Female Top Managers in Banks on the Russian Market
Ch. 9. P. 144–153.
Prosvirkina E. Y., Bert W.
This research is devoted to the increasing role of women in management of banks in Russia. Data collection is based on public information from 178 websites of banks as well as other sources. This research demonstrated that in 91% of banks at least one member of Executive Board is a woman, and in 22.5% the chairman of the Executive Board is a woman. Private banks prefer female top managers more than public banks. In addition, there are less female top managers in investment banks rather than in retail, corporate, and universal banks. The research also shows that female top managers have only local banking experience and male top managers have a more diverse working experience.

Relevance and diversity are critical objectives in modern information retrieval (IR), particularly in recommender systems. Achieving a balance between relevance (exploitation) and diversity (exploration) optimizes user satisfaction and business goals such as catalog coverage and novelty. While existing post-processing reranking methods address this trade-off, they usually rely on greedy strategies, leading to suboptimal outcomes for ...

We study how a reduction in communication cost affects equilibrium diversity (in expertise) in hiring decisions. The key trade-off is that, while hiring a more diverse team may enlarge the team's pool of knowledge, it also makes communication between the hired experts more challenging. Equilibrium diversity balances this trade-off. We find that equilibrium diversity may ...

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems have predominantly mirrored neurotypical brain architectures (NBA), optimizing for efficiency, predictability, and standardized cognitive patterns. However, non-neurotypical brains (NNB) exhibit unique neurochemical, hormonal, and functional mechanisms that underpin divergent thinking, creativity, and alternative problem-solving strategies. Drawing from evolutionary biology, we emphasize how neurodiversity serves as a critical mechanism for adaptability, survival, ...

The decade of expansionary monetary policy and tough financial regulation after the global financial crisis reduced the profitability of the banking sector, but at the same time it significantly increased its financial stability. The COVID-19 pandemic has become a stress for banks, but liquidity support measures and extra-dovish monetary policy of central banks in developed ...

The role of national diversity in sports and esports teams is a well-established field of research. Nevertheless, earlier studies primarily concentrated on assessing performance, based on criteria like prize money or the frequency of podium finishes. In this paper, we analyze the esports data of professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams to shed light on the question of ...

Crises in the banking and sovereign debt sectors give rise to heightened financial fragility.
Of particular concern is the development of self-fulfilling feedback loops where crisis conditions in
one sector are transmitted to the other sector and back again. We use time-varying tests of Granger
causality to demonstrate how empirical evidence of connectivity between the banking and sovereign
sectors ...

Crisis situations, like the COVID-19 pandemic, have historically been identified as times of enhanced innovation and entrepreneurial activities. Innovation actors are required to respond quickly to a new situation bearing in mind the effects of actions across their network of partners and competitors as well as rising economic complexity. Indeed, first indications suggest that this ...
