Бюрократы без бюро: Новгород Великий как лаборатория выработки московского языка описания
The article is about the history of the formation of the language of Muscovite bureaucratic language of description in the context of the study of the development of ranks in the northwestern borderland of the Novgorod land in late 15th—early 16th c. The article raises the issue of the construction of new ranks by Muscovite clerks depending on specific political and geographical circumstances. The language of bureaucratic documentation created on the fly as a response to the challenge of the diversity of the Moscow state. The Narva region as a border zone was one of the specific testing grounds for the construction of a complex hierarchy of new ranks and the formation of the Moscow business language as a whole. The creation of new groups in the Jam and Ivangorod districts is traced on biographical material. The legitimacy of identifying ranks and estates is disputed. The process of development of the bureaucratic system towards simplification during the first centuries of Moscow statehood is considered.
