The article is devoted to the problem of information overload in social media. Information overload is considered is a complex cultural phenomenon, which is perceived differently in different times and in different cultures. The study is based on the data of semi-structured in-depth interviews with Russian students, his goal is to study their understanding of the information overload, including contingency of the information overload and constant being online, procrastination in social media, blurring borders between private and public, true and false in the media, alienation from "far-away", the culture of success in the information society and the value of knowledge.
