The article discusses the problems of such psychological and social practices, such as pet therapy, pets use in therapy. The subject of this research is the methodological basis of Animal-assisted therapy as a practical field of activity of modern psychologists, social workers and other helping professions. The paper discusses the reasons which cause the specifics of this direction in the therapeutic work, and discusses the possibility of using Animal-assisted therapy in various categories of clients. The methods of this study were made by theoretical analysis of Russian and foreign scientific literature in psychology and social work. In this paper, the authors give a description of modern therapeutic practices such as pet therapy and consider the possibilities of using this technology in working with clients psychologists and experts in social work. The paper highlights the main groups of problems and areas of work, which can be used by pets, although this list may not be fully represented, as research in this area still continuing.
