Кому на Руси жить хорошо? Мониторинг 1994 - 2013 гг.
In Russia, unlike other countries, long-term and short-term trends in GDP (income) and life satisfaction a strong positive relationship (as in a time of deep economic crisis, and during the rapid economic growth). Evidence forthis is found in time series data RLMS–HSE for the years 1994–2013. Skeptics, who claim that the transition from socialism to a market-oriented economy has made people unhappy, as well as the slow-rated life satisfaction rise, were wrong because of insufficient-data used. Life satisfaction closely follow the changes in the volume of production, income and consumption (with time lags, the size of which is determined by the degree of awareness of what is happening). The relationship between life satisfaction and its main determinants in Russia are of the same nature as in many countries (both developed and developing). And their specific characteristics and shape depend on the characteristics of the economic cycle in the country and the previous ways (models) of its development. The losses from the economic crisis are perceived sharper than the benefits of economic growth. Restoration of some indicators of social well-being happens more slowly, than restoration of basic economic indicators. What is typical for countries which endured deep fluctuations in a business cycle.
