La réécriture des textes, reflet de la transformation des hommes. Le cas de Iouri Guerman
During Stalin dictatorship, the institute of the Soviet writers demonstrated vast and irreversible changes of writing strategy. The very craft had turned to the permanent editing of history and rewriting of texts. This practice revealed in the 1930-s (cf. Emigrees by Alexei Tolstoy, Thief by Leonid Leonov), continued in the 1940s (Young Guard by Alexander Fadeev) and has become a deep-seated habit of foretelling all fluctuations of power in the 1950s. The heritage of Yuri German could brightly illustrate the Soviet rewriter's syndrome. His early novel Our friends (1931) was transformed in 1956 into more retrogressive book supporting violence. intolerance and other totalitarian qualities. An enthusiasm of the Thaw faced a typical practice of Stalin's era firmly incorporated in the writer's consciousness. The present article analyzes two editions of the same novel and describes how this mechanism works.
