Региональное кино Дальнего Востока: анализ и рейтинг кинематографического потенциала субъектов ДФО
This study provides a comprehensive assessment of the cinematic potential of the constituent entities of the Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation and analyzes regional models of movie industry development. The relevance of the study stems from the lack of validated criteria and unified methodologies for assessing the current state and prospects of regional cinema, which complicates the design of evidence-based cultural policy and support mechanisms for the creative industries in the Far East. The aim of the study is to provide a comprehensive assessment and ranking of the cinematic potential of the constituent regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, as well as to identify a typology of regional models of film development. Using an original methodology developed by the HSE Film Institute, a comparative analysis of 11 regions of the Far Eastern Federal District was conducted across five dimensions: film production, distribution, government regulation and support, film education, and the activity of the film community. The empirical basis of the study consists of the results of a survey of 47 field-specific experts across all regions of the Far Eastern Federal District and statistical data for 2021–2024.The analysis produced an integral ranking of the regions’ cinematic potential, led by the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republic of Buryatia; it also identified stable types of regional development and established key relationships among institutional, infrastructural, and sociocultural parameters. The proposed methodology and the results obtained can be used to develop regional strategies for supporting the film industry and cultural policy by government authorities, as well as by specialized institutions, when planning measures for the development of infrastructure, distribution, and staffing.
