Экономическая наука: Очерки интеллектуальной истории
The monograph consists of three parts devoted, respectively, to the actual issues of the methodology of economics; to the general history of economic thought; and to the phenomenon of the political economy of socialism in the Soviet period. Economic science is approached from the perspective of intellectual history, that is in the context of intellectual and socio-political environment of its historical development. Methodological part of the book is focused on the relationship between theoretical and applied knowledge, on the one hand, and on the relationships between specialized economic knowledge and socio-philosophical (ontological) conceptions, on the other. The latter are considered on the background of the growing segmentation and fragmentation of knowledge.
The section devoted to the general history of thought presents new interpretation of the genesis of the science of economics based on its connection with the scientific revolution of the XVII–XVIII centuries, as well as provides reassessment of the role of Richard Cantillon in the formation of scientific economics. The latter topic is supplemented with the analysis of Cantillon—Marx connection based on introduction of new materials from Marx’s unpublished manuscripts. This analysis sheds new light on the development of Marx’s thought and his conception of the genesis of political economy.
The section on the economic thought of the Soviet period develops a new approach to the discourses in political economy of socialism, devoted to the concept of ownership, discussions on “commodity-money relations”, as well as analyses the transformation of economic profession in the late Soviet Union.
The monograph summarises forty-years studies of the author and is based both on earlier publications of various types, partly inaccessible to the Russian-speaking readers, and the new author’s elaborations.
