Эволюция образа корабля в античной литературе (на материале «Аргонавтики» А. Родосского и «Одиссеи» Гомера)
The given article is devoted to the evolution of the image of Ship in the ancient literature on the example of two epic poems «Argonautica» by Apollonius of Rhodes and «Odyssey» by Homer. The aim of the article is to define the way of the image’s artistic transformation in the ancient literature, to reveal the characteristic features of its functoning in ancient myths and literary works, and to analyze the birth of a new artistic hypostasis of the Ship – the Flying Dutchman. Methods of the historical and culturological analyses as well as the method of the comparativistic analyses make the likeness of the ancient Ship and the Old Testament Noah’s Ark evident, also prooving that the image of Ship as it existed in the ancient times later on served as a prototype of the Flying Dutchman of the Romanticism epoch. The analyses of the Ship in the ancient period of its existence makes it possible to get a clearer picture of its most popular artistic hypostais – the Flying Dutchman.
