Северная Европа: политика безопасности вчера и сегодня. Доклады Института Европы № 425
This monograph provides a comprehensive analysis of the security policies of Northern European countries within the context of historical transformations and contemporary geopolitical challenges. The authors investigate the reasons for and consequences of Sweden’s and Finland’s abandonment of their long-standing policies of neutrality and their subsequent accession to NATO, as well as the impact of this decision on regional security in the Baltic-Scandinavian macroregion. The key objective of the research is to identify the specific approaches of the Nordic countries to ensuring their security, taking into account their historical experiences, geographical positions, and foreign policy interests. The study covers a wide range of issues: from historical narratives of neutrality and contemporary political debates to the analysis of economic aspects of security. The legal aspects of safeguarding sovereignty in the Arctic and the influence of international crises on regional stability are also examined.
