Глобальные цепочки создания стоимости как фактор развития и обеспечения устойчивости экспортного потенциала автомобильной промышленности Китая
The objective of this article is to provide a comprehensive characterization of China's involvement in the global value chains (GVCs) of the global automotive industry. Additionally, it aims to ascertain the significance of this participation in GVCs in terms of realizing the export potential of the Chinese automotive industry. The study is grounded in the TiVA 2023 value-added database and case studies. These case studies demonstrate two processes: the formation of China's value chains for the development of its national automotive industry and the integration of the Chinese automotive industry into the global value chains (GVCs) of major Western countries. The following transformations in China's participation in automotive GVCs can be identified: a reduction in the dependence of national production on the participation of countries that are leaders in the global automotive industry; China's expansion of the geography of value-added suppliers within GVCs; the achievement of import substitution of products required in production processes in low- and medium-tech industries; shifting the focus of cooperation with the world's leading automotive countries within the GVC from medium- and high-tech industries to the business services sector; significantly strengthening the role of the Chinese automotive industry in the automotive GVCs of countries that were previously leaders in the industry (the EU, the US, Japan, and South Korea). The study's primary conclusion indicates that China's implementation of targeted and effective measures to develop and integrate into automotive GVCs has yielded several notable outcomes. Firstly, China has successfully established a highly competitive automotive industry that is resilient in the face of protectionism and technological decoupling. Secondly, China has effectively integrated itself as a significant player in the automotive GVCs of other countries worldwide.
