HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

Editorial Reflections on the Art-Based Pedagogies in Education for Sustainability

Ch. 22. P. 383–390.
Singhal D., Rimanoczy I., Ivanova E.

In this closing chapter, Ekaterina, Isabel and Divya take the stage to share their stories about how they personally connected with art. To honor the theme of the book, they use words, poetry and images. Three stories, three paths connecting them with art, learning, personal transformation of perspectives, and personal growth. Many more stories are behind the 22 chapters of this book. Stories of the educators describing their pedagogical innovations, stories of their students. This last chapter invites the reader to get inspired and experiment. If you are already using art, try out more, or different approaches. If you haven’t done so, let yourself be guided by one of the chapters that most resonated with you. There are no right- s and wrongs, just trial and learning. Like in art— a painting is never finished, it’s just the decision of the artist to set an end, and to start thinking of the next one.

Recent research proposes that arts-integrated teaching approaches in business education can nurture students’ aesthetic sensitivity and emotional capacities, such as self-awareness and empathy. In this chapter, we examine the pedagogical possibility of art appreciation in art museums as a consciousness-raising practice, especially for the sake of cultivating business students’ environmental awareness in two different contexts. ...

Addressing the psychophysiological correlates of reflection in the context of modern psychology based on the integrity paradigm is an urgent and promising area. We rely on the ideas of L.S. Shurakov A., Razakova A., Lvov A. et al., IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters 2025 Vol. 24 No. 1 P. 88–92
The quality of wireless connections in the sixth-generation (6G) communication networks is tightly linked to the capabilities of smart antenna environments. They should enable effective routing of ultra-narrow radio beams, intrinsic to D-band channels, and make use of so-called reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). Practical RISs are seriously judged by their cost and operation efficiencies. In ...

The sixth-generation cellular systems are expected to utilize the text sub-terahertz frequency band covering 100–300-GHz. Due to high path losses, the coverage of such systems will be limited to a few tens of meters making them suitable for indoor environments. As compared to outdoor deployments, indoor usage of text sub-terahertz systems is characterized by the ...

Maksim D. Miroshnichenko, Russian Studies in Philosophy 2022 Vol. 60 No. 3 P. 205–230
The paper reconstructs the conception of the Soviet-American psychologist Vladimir Lefebvre as part of the neocybernetic movement. In particular, I propose to consider such components of his research of the 70s-90s as systemic vision, reflexive analysis, search for a holistic configuration, and Janus-cosmology as realizations of neocybernetics. Lefebvre's interest in the reflexive structures of cognition ...
