In recent decades, the world monetary system has undergone profound transformations, which are due to changes in the nature of interstate interaction, the ways of doing business by subjects of international economic relations, large-scale internationalization processes against the background of the ongoing globalization of economic relations. In these conditions, there are growing trends towards the redistribution of the role and importance of world currencies in servicing international settlements. The problem is that as some world currencies weaken and others strengthen, the stability of the global monetary system decreases, and its vulnerability and susceptibility to crises increases, generating risks that destabilize national economies. In this regard, the study of the patterns of functioning of world currencies and the determination of the directions of stabilization of the world monetary system is becoming relevant and of practical importance.
