This article examines the development of the principle of international comity and its establishment in American judicial practice. In this article, comity is viewed through the prism of historical events and the ideas of those who had the greatest influence on its development. The author analyzes the historical background of international comity in the United States, as well as the guiding precedents established in American judicial practice. The article concludes that the principle of comity has evolved haphazardly in the United States, undergoing changes throughout its history, with its meaning and scope changing and its application in different states being uncertain.
