Подтверждение конкурентной валидности Русского афазиологического теста — нового стандартизированного инструмента для диагностики афазии
Objective. To establish the validity of a new diagnostic tool — Russian Aphasia Test (RAT) — by comparing the results of its completion with those of “The Scale for Appraising the Severity of Language Disorders in Persons with Local Brain Lesions” (Wasserman Scale), traditionally used in Russian-speaking contexts.
Material and methods. One hundred participants who had a stroke were tested with the RAT and Wasserman Scale. A correlation analysis was conducted between the general scores of both tests and scores for specific subtests assessing comparable language skills (speech comprehension, repetition, naming, picture description).
Results. A significant negative correlation between the general scores of both tests was demonstrated by Spearman’s correlation coefficient (ρ =–0,85, p<0,001). A moderate negative correlation between separate tasks of the two tests was also shown by the Kendall correlation coefficient (p<0,001). This proves the comparability of the two diagnostic methods.
Conclusion. The current investigation confirms the comparability of RAT and Wasserman Scale results. This proves the validity of the RAT and demonstrates that it can be used as a complementary tool to assess language disorders in persons with local brain lesions.
