Specification is designed to capture basic information about a test and is an important source of evidence of its content validity. Despite the importance of this document, specifications in psychology are either not recorded in detail or are not available to a wide range of researchers. In this paper, we describe the elements of specifications and their purpose, and discuss the specific features of specification development using the example of a new comprehensive intelligence test for children and adolescents.
