Collection of articles dedicated to the activities of the outstanding French historian E. Le Roy Ladurie. The various aspects of his multifaceted work: historical anthropology, the history of climate, cliometrics, economic history, history of the peasantry, visual anthropology, etc., and especially the perception of his work by the teaching community of different countries.
The article is concerned with the study of a number of illustrated books of World War I ("the Great War documents") which were edited by the right wing Weimar intellectual Ernst Junger. It is his concept of the Total Mobilization which allows me to demonstrate a genetic connection between photography and cinema as "modern mass-media" and the phaenomenon of a technical war. For Junger a technical war and technology in general are the art and way, in which the figure of The Worker is mobilizing the world and aims for a global dominance. Thus the illustrated books of the Great War appear as documents of a global transformation and indicate a new heroic experience of a modern technical reality comparable with films of Dziga Vertov, Leni Riefenstahl or Fritz Lang.
On the basis of the data set for Claude Monet's pictures, sold on large auctions worldwide from April, 1997 till December, 2009, it is estimated hedonic regression model. We model the works price on the base of the number of its characteristics, such as: the size of a picture, techniques of execution and a material of a basis, an auction house, presence of signature/date, participation of work in exhibitions and a mention in the specialized editions, lot numbers and experience of the artist by the moment of the creation of the work. The estimated regression is significant and explains 76 % of a dispersion of the prices. The received estimations allows to reveal essential price deviations for the sold works from «fair» market, «to translate» qualitative distinctions between pictures in quantitative in terms of an expected market price.
