The Increasing Role of Female Top Managers in Banks on the Russian Market

P. 144-153.
Prosvirkina E. Y., Bert W.

This research is devoted to the increasing role of women in management of banks in Russia. Data collection is based on public information from 178 websites of banks as well as other sources. This research demonstrated that in 91% of banks at least one member of Executive Board is a woman, and in 22.5% the chairman of the Executive Board is a woman. Private banks prefer female top managers more than public banks. In addition, there are less female top managers in investment banks rather than in retail, corporate, and universal banks. The research also shows that female top managers have only local banking experience and male top managers have a more diverse working experience.
