Синтаксические особенности немецких научных текстов первой половины XIV в. (на материале Mainauer Naturlehre и Das Buch der Natur)
The article considers the syntax of German scientific texts in the first half of the 14th century. The description and analysis of main syntactic features is based on Mainauer Naturlehre and Das Buch der Natur. To achieve it, one hundred sentences from each text were taken using continuous sampling method. Medieval scientific texts had educational goals. It allows considering them as popular science texts. Due to that fact they include such opposite stylistic features as tendency to neutrality and integrity and tendency to expressiveness and subjectivity. It can be achieved with the help of special syntactic features. To present information impersonally the authors use complex and compound sentences, passive voice, and impersonal sentences. Using of modal verbs makes texts expressive and subjective. Moreover, the syntax of Das Buch der Natur is more complicated than the syntax of Mainauer Naturlehre is.
