Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Субъективное благополучие и уровень жизни в Калининградской области

Социологические исследования. 2024. № 2. С. 48–61.
Zotova M., Zinovyev A.

The article provides a conjugated analysis of an objectified picture of the living conditions and subjective wellbeing of the population in the Kaliningrad region as one of the Russian border regions, characterized by the strengthening of the role of the border as a dividing marker against the background of intense crossborder interactions in the recent past. The study is based on a comparison of the socioeconomic indicators of the neighboring border regions of Russia, Poland, and Lithuania with quantitative (representative survey) and qualitative sociological data (focus groups and semistructured interviews) obtained by the authors in Kaliningrad region in 2020–2022. It is shown that subjective wellbeing and perception of the quality of life, as well as a comparison of one’s own standard of living with that achieved in neighboring Poland and Lithuania, are determined by the socioeconomic polarization of the region and the heterogeneity of the Kaliningrad society, including differences in lifestyle, mobility, and activity of residents. An imbalance between the relative material wellbeing of the inhabitants of the exclave against the background of other Russian regions and their poor social wellbeing caused by an unfavorable comparison of themselves with neighboring EU countries was revealed. Differences across the border are assessed primarily through the prism of general admiration for Europe, envy of goods and comfort, although most respondents are not familiar with the realities of life on the other side of the border. At the same time, the main referents of unfavorable comparisons are not only neighbors, but also the most wealthy and successful groups of the population.

Gridded Data on Population Density in Russia: Validation and Correction of the Global GHS-POP Model
Sheludkov A.V., Gonyukhov P.O., Ignatenko P.Y. et al., Regional Research of Russia 2026 Vol. 16 P. 399–409
The article validates and corrects the global 100-m resolution GHS-POP population density dataset for Russia. Adapting global population density models to national contexts and improving their accuracy addresses the critical lack of high-resolution population distribution data required across geography and related disciplines. Modern population density models (e.g., LandScan, GHS-POP, WorldPop) employ dasymetric mapping principles, disaggregating ...

Эмпирической основой работы выступает массовый онлайн- опрос взрослого населения России 2024 г., дополненный ...

Факторы устойчивой интеграции университетских музеев в образовательный процесс
Rossinskaya A., Борусяк Л.

Titkov A. S., Логос 2024 Т. 34 № 4 С. 184–202
Sociological texts on zombies are mostly interested in human problems (capitalism, pop culture, etc), not in zombies as such. Zombies as a specific form of (non) life remain a blindspot for sociologists. Scientists of other disciplines, like epidemiology and neurosciences, have already declared their ways for studying zombies. Our task is to outline the concepts ...
