The article examines the phenomenon of US hegemony in the Western Hemisphere and the possibility of overcoming it by 2040. The question is raised about the feasibility of this measure for the establishment of the countries in the region. The key determinants of the development of inter-American relations are identified, and the key threats to Washington's dominance are revealed. Among them, the strengthening of the positions of major powers, primarily Brazil and Mexico, as well as China's penetration into Latin America are of particular importance. The prognostic nature of the study determined the methodology of the article, in which current trends are compared with the vision of future world development (by the middle of the 21st century).
