The article tells about the sunken city of Tonis-Heracleon. It was located in the submerged Canopic branch of the Nile and flourished in the VIII–II centuries BC. Tonis-Heracleon served as the sea gate to Egypt, met every foreign ship, and also played an important role in the taxation of merchants. In addition, the city had a unique cultural environment for people’s collaboration, due to the permanent presence of foreigners in Heracleon, mainly Greeks and Phoenicians. The results of this collaboration are visible everywhere in Heracleon: in found minted coins, temples and information about religious holidays.
