Американские консерваторы и дебаты по вопросу традиционных ценностей: президентские выборы 2012 и 2016 гг.

The contemporary ideological content of the traditional values concept in the context of political debates in the United States during the last two presidential election campaigns is under investigation in the paper. The author researches the evolution of the American conservative movement and Republican Party as its institutional expression on the example of the practical application of the traditional values concept in the electoral process. The change of the role of the traditional values concept in republican candidates’ programs is explored by comparative analysis of the 2012 and 2016 republican primary debates. Influence of consequences of globalization, migration and demographic shifts on the values of the U.S. conservative electorate is determined on the basis of Ronald Inglehart’s methodology. An attempt is made to research the ideological and social origins of «trampism» as a political phenomenon and its relationship with American conservatism.
