The article describes on the basis of consultation materials and specially organized researches the redistribution and transformation of the main family functions (educational, psychotherapeutic, erotic, economic, protective, etc.) in conditions of husband’s seasonal or rotating work.
The article considers the problem of preparing young people for future parenthood.Readiness for parenthood is considered as a complex phenomenon consisting of the following components : cognitive- reflective , personal , emotional and regulative.To speak of a sufficient level of readiness for parenthood, all these components must be optimally formed. The purpose of this published study is to test the hypothesis that the implementation of the model and program of psychological support of the development of psychological readiness for parenthood in the minds of female students can enhance the level of their existing internal readiness for future parenthood .The study involved 52 students , 21-22 years , 25 of women were in the experimental group , 27 –in the control group. For the diagnosis of the level of psychological readiness for parenthood were used well-known methods as well asthe author's method "Family social roles" by Vasilyeva E.N., Orlov A.V. (A variant of " My future parental roles ").An analysis of the data of the ascertaining cutoff found that girls aged 21-22 years old have an average level of psychological readiness for parenthood in all its components : cognitive- reflective , personal , emotional and regulative. Girls in the experimental group were trained using the training program "Effective Parenting " and showed a significant increase of the level of psychological readiness for future parenthood , compared with the control group . The materials of the research can be used by specialists in the field of family psychology , in particular, dealing with the study of parenting as a phenomenon , as well as preparing young people to conscious parenting.

In Chapter considers the issues of transformation of the modern Russian family, the peculiarities of performing its functions (reproductive, educational, economic, psychological), the prospects of changes in family structure. Transformation of the family institution is considered in the context of the modernization of social relations. Conclusions about the consequences for society transformation processes of the family are constructed on the basis of the data of population censuses, current statistical records and the results of a series of random surveys. The conclusion about the necessity of implementation of family policy, considering the interests of the family as a social institution.
Several approaches to the concept of fatherhood present in Western sociological tradition are analyzed and compared: biological determinism, social constructivism and biosocial theory. The problematics of fatherhood and men’s parental practices is marginalized in modern Russian social research devoted to family and this fact makes the traditional inequality in family relations, when the father’s role is considered secondary compared to that of mother, even stronger. However, in Western critical men’s studies several stages can be outlined: the development of “sex roles” paradigm (biological determinism), the emergence of the hegemonic masculinity concept, inter-disciplinary stage (biosocial theory). According to the approach of biological determinism, the role of a father is that of the patriarch, he continues the family line and serves as a model for his ascendants. Social constructivism looks into man’s functions in the family from the point of view of masculine pressure and establishing hegemony over a woman and children. Biosocial theory aims to unite the biological determinacy of fatherhood with social, cultural and personal context. It is shown that these approaches are directly connected with the level of the society development, marriage and family perceptions, the level of egality of gender order.
