Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Environmentally Safe Techniques In The Recycling Of Mercury-containing Materials

WIT Transactions on Ecology and The Environment. 2014. Vol. 190. P. 551–556.
Maslennikova I., Kovalev V., Eronko O., Grishchenko T.

Protection of the environment can be achieved by creating conditions that ensure the complete absence, or at least minimal content, of hazardous substances in industrial waste. Therefore, in production processes where the main and/or additive product is material with mercury content, the prevention of mercury vapor emissions into the atmosphere is an essential prerequisite for safety and environmental protection. However, achieving these indispensable safety conditions requires significant energy input. Detailed analysis of existing techniques and equipment for mercury extraction from mercury-containing and mercury-contaminated materials as well as plastics containing waste showed that all of the proposed methods are energy-intensive and cannot entirely remove mercury vapor from the emissions. A new technique of the thermal demercurization of mercury-containing materials has been offered. The original feature of the proposed technique is the distillation and condensation of mercury vapor within an inert gas flow circulating in the closed loop system. The offered technique ensures a substantial reduction in energy consumption while cooling the mercury vapor for its condensation and almost entirely eliminates mercury emissions into the atmosphere. Keywords: recycling of mercury-containing materials, environmental protection, energy consumption, thermal demercurization, inert gas flow, closed gas loop system, closed liquid loop system.

Hectometric Continuum Radiation Observations on Different Temporal Scales in Near-Earth Space
D. A. Dorofeev, A. A. Chernyshov, Mogilevsky M. M. et al., JOURNAL OF GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH-SPACE PHYSICS 2025 Vol. 130 Article e2025JA033900
This study analyzes data from the ERG (Arase) satellite over a period of nearly 7 years (2017–2023). During this time, about 1,000 cases of hectometric continuum (HMC) radiation in near‐Earth space were detected, which made it possible to identify characteristic features on different time scales. On a daily scale, it was established that HMC is ...

On the nature of hectometric continuum-type emissions in the near-Earth plasma
Mogilevsky M. M., Shaposhnikov V., Chernyshov A. et al., Physics of Plasmas 2025 Vol. 32 P. 1–10
The ERG (Arase) satellite recently discovered a non-thermal hectometric continuum with a narrowband frequency structure. The mechanism behind the generation of this type of emission in the near-Earth plasma is still unknown. This study examines the potential use of electron cyclotron harmonics instability to explain the line structure of hectometric radio emissions for the first ...

Shabanov N., Kuricheva O., Kurbatova J. et al., / Series Working Papers SSRN "Department of Economics Ca’ Foscari University of Venice". 2026.
The carbon balance of an ecosystem is the difference between Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) and Ecosystem Respiration (Reco) as expressed by Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE). While remote sensing retrievals of GPP have reached maturity, Reco estimation remains underexplored and ultimately cast bias on NEE. Here we present an end-to-end multi-scale analysis of the mechanism of ...

Gorbacheva A., Krenke A., Puzachenko M. et al., Geoderma Regional 2026 Vol. 46 Article e01124
Legacy soil maps remain essential for national land-use planning. However, their thematic accuracy and spatial resolution are often insufficient for contemporary applications requiring reliable estimates. This study presents a digital soil-mapping approach to update legacy soil information without extensive field sampling, demonstrated for arable lands in the Republic of Tatarstan (4.5 million ha). Reconstruction of EEG signals using next-generation reservoir computing
Badarin A., Ratnikov F., Andreev A., European Physical Journal: Special Topics 2026 P. 1–10
EEG recordings are often affected by the loss or corruption of individual channels due to electrode detachment, poor scalp contact, or external interference. Such channels must be accurately reconstructed before further analysis. In this study, we investigate Next-Generation Reservoir Computing (NG-RC) as a data-driven approach for reconstructing corrupted EEG channels and compare its performance with ...
