П.С. Батурин и его свободное время опыт анализа автобиографического нарратива начала XIX века
The article analyzes the function of free time in the autobiographical text of P.S. Baturin "The Life and Adventures of G.S.S.B. A Fair Tale Written by Himself. Volume III". It shows the desire of an educated official of Catherine's Russia to emphasize in his memoirs the rational use of free time devoted to the needs of the state and internal self-improvement. It demonstrates a gradual shift in the emphasis in the text about spending free time in the name of effectively fulfilling his official duties to personal interests, which is argued by the author's career failures and his desire to retire. An organic connection is revealed with the memoirist's desire for a private life filled with science, music and reading with those patterns of behavior that the intellectual nobility of the second half of the 18th - first quarter of the 19th could draw from the philosophical discourse of the Enlightenment. The time of writing the text is specified with the use of new data on the author's career, which allows us to more fully trace the career trajectory of the memoirist in the last years of his life. A hypothesis is proposed about the reason for the author's haste in working on autobiography, associated with the chronic illness of P.S. Baturin.
